Wow. That's the date of the last post announcing the release of XBit 1.0.5. I guess that means it was overdue for an update then. Well, it's available now from the ZenVilla home page.

What's new you ask? This version will properly display files that are saved out of the Leopard version of Apple Mail. I've also moved the whole project over from Mac OS X 10.2 to 10.5 so that I can use the latest and greatest tools, by which I mean, Xcode and TextMate. That has the unfortunate side effect of causing XBit to require 10.5 at this point. I haven't really looked at enabling support for 10.4 and I'm not sure if I will bother with that since the main change in this release has to do with 10.5 anyway. Version 1.0.5 will still work fine for anyone who isn't on Apple's latest and greatest. Oh yes, and it's a Universal Binary now!

So here's to timely updates.

XBit 1.0.5 Released

<dc:subject>News</dc:subject>

There’s a new minor update to XBit available here. Hopefully this weekend if all goes well.

In the meantime, please continue to use XBit in unregistered mode with a clear and guilt free conscience! Unfortunately, we can’t yet provide that information as we do not yet have access to Tiger. In the interim, we suggest making a backup of the data folder, located here…

“~/Library/Application Support/XBit”

The easiest way to do this is to right click on the folder and select “Create Archive of XBit” from the resulting contextual menu.

Please report any Tiger related problems to bugs at this domain.

XBit 1.0.2 Released

<dc:subject>News</dc:subject>

This is a bug fix release that addresses a single issue. XBit then chooses not to display the issues in the interface when it sees them as having no content. The problem is that there is no feedback telling you what happened. This is currently a problem for issues #750 and #751.

There is an easy workaround for this. As mentioned in the Read Me, just manually copy the issues into the the following folder within your home folder…

“~/Library/Application Support/XBit/TidBITS”

The issues can be saved out of your email program or grabbed from the links above.
