TidBITS FTP Troubles Continue

As mentioned here previously, the TidBITS FTP server is still not behaving. This weeks issue in setext format can be grabbed here. Option click to have your browser download it. For instructions on how to manually add an issue to XBit via the Finder, see the Read Me file or this post.

We are currently evaluating a fix for this problem and hopefully it will be available soon. Preferably before the next issue of TidBITS goes out.

Mailing List Online

We now have a mailing list setup to handle announcements, much like this news blog. The difference being that the mailing list will be used strictly to announce version updates to our software. Any such announcements will also be seen on this page so if you live and die by your aggregator, no worries. If, however, you would like to sign up for the mailing list, just pop over to the front page and look for the little form at the bottom.

Trouble Downloading New TidBITS Issues

Well it seems the folks over at TidBITS are having some trouble with their FTP server and as a result, XBit is downloading empty files from them. XBit then chooses not to display the issues in the interface when it sees them as having no content. The problem is that there is no feedback telling you what happened. This is currently a problem for issues #750 and #751.

There is an easy workaround for this. As mentioned in the Read Me, just manually copy the issues into the the following folder within your home folder…

“~/Library/Application Support/XBit/TidBITS”

The issues can be saved out of your email program or grabbed from the links above. Option click those links to have them download to your computer.

Hello World

Welcome to the ZenVilla News blog! This is the place to come to find out what’s new with us. Any product announcements, informational messages and such will be posted here. The traffic will be minimal as this isn’t meant to be a personal blog. For best results, stick the RSS link in a feed aggregator and let it tell you when there’s something new here.
